What's Up with the Freak Show in Left Field?

I’ve got to ask. Am I the only who watched this past weekend’s Astros games against the Phillies and wondered if the left field concourse is turning into

Let’s Make A Deal

For those too young remember, Let’s Make A Deal was a game show hosted by Monty Hall. Monty would roam the audience, looking for people in funny costumes, and then he would make deals with them. He might show one guy in a clown costume what was behind curtain number one, then offer to trade it for the contents of curtain number two, only no one knew what was behind curtain number two.

What’s this got to do with anything? Well, if you’re like me, you saw the left field concourse and all of those Los Caballitos people with their cowboy hats and toy horses, and right next to them, you saw The Little Pumas, which were people wearing puma costumes. The only thing missing was Monty Hall roaming the crowd and asking if they wanted five hundred dollars, or the contents of his pocket.

Now this is going to piss some people off but…COME ON! You’re adults, people. Dress like it. This is a baseball game. It’s not a damn costume party, nor is it a game show. You don’t see people dressing up like this at other ballparks, do you? So why do you have to make the Houston fans as a whole look like such blithering idiots – of course, Houston’s support of Miguel Tejada also makes Houston fans look like blithering idiots, but still, for the love of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, stop it.

And one more thing, all of those people you see laughing, well, they’re not laughing with you. They’re laughing at you. So unless you’re a five-year-old kid, act your age. If you want to show everyone that you’re fan, wear a Lee or Berkman jersey, but stop it with the costumes.

Unless, of course, Monty Hall shows up and asks if you want to keep your game tickets or swap them for what’s behind curtain number three.
