"2010 Print Auction Exhibition"
It's a good time to buy cars, houses and art - especially when buying said art helps an institution thrive. So bring your critical eye to the Houston Center for Photography's "2010 Print Auction Exhibition," a show of photographic works from all over the world that will be auctioned off February 25. Black-and-white and color, abstract and literal, haunting and beautiful, there are works to fit all tastes, even distinctly Texan ones (check out Steve Fitch's nostalgic black-and-white portrait of a San Antonio drive-in and Mark Jaremko's subtly gorgeous shot of lit-up port cranes at night). All proceeds will go directly to HCP, supporting exhibitions, educational initiatives and outreach programs. The point of the exhibit is to get the works auctioned off, though it is, of course, open to all of us photoholics who love to just look. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays, noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Through February 23. 1441 West Alabama. For information, call 713-529-4755 or visit www.hcponline.org. Free.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: Jan. 22. Continues through Feb. 23, 2010
