Marmion Park is both the starting and the finishing line for the 25th Heights Fun Run. Presented by the Houston Heights Association, the Run is more of a neighborhood party than a competitive, "wow, I'm glad I've been in training for the last six months" race. Theres a 1K for kids, an easy 5K Walk and a 5K Fun Run to choose from. (If you're really into the whole competition thing, the course is certified and disposable chip timing will be provided.) One of the reasons organizers keep the route so short is so that everyone can hurry back to the post-run party, which features entertainment, prizes and lots of food. Of course, there'll be an award ceremony (along with the adult winners, each participant in Kids 1K gets an award). Staggered start times beginning at 7:30 a.m. 1802 Heights. For information, call 713-861-4002 or visit www.houstonheights.org. Free to $30.
