"2nd Annual AMG Visual Stimulus Package"
You might think a few zeroes have been left off of the prices of the artwork for sale at the "2nd Annual AMG Visual Stimulus Package." All of the paintings, photographs and multimedia creations are priced at just $50 and $100. The roster of 50 emerging and established artists, who come from Houston, Austin and San Antonio, includes local favorites such as wheat paste artist Give Up and photographer George Hixson. Other artists with works for sale include Elaine Bradford and Xochi Solis. Serious collectors will want to take advantage of the all-day preview before the frenzied first-come, first-serve sale during the evening reception. Organized by local gallery owner Apama Mackey and Keep Houston Rich, a Web site that promotes the city, the "Visual Stimulus Package" is expected to repeat last year's success (translation: a sell-out). Preview 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., reception 6 to 8 p.m. Apama Mackey Gallery, 301 East 11th Street. For information, call 713-822-4842 or visit www.mackeygallery.com. Free.
Sat., May 29, 6-8 p.m., 2010
