37th Annual International Quilt Festival/Houston
The real story about the 37th Annual International Quilt Festival/Houston is in the numbers. Here’s the breakdown: Fifty-thousand people from around the world will descend on the George R. Brown Convention Center for five days to enjoy 1,500 quilts and fiber art works and 35 exhibits, take 435 classes and stroll among 1,100 booths. You’ll see quilts of every style, size, color and pattern imaginable. Workshop topics range from beading fringework to harvesting silk right from the cocoons. You can even take a bus tour to the newly opened Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange. Translation: fiber art lovers will be deliriously happy — and completely exhausted — by the end of the festival. 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. 1001 Avenida de las Americas.
