A Dreamy Nightmare
Nightmare of You sounds like the perfect name for a death-metal band. But sounds can be deceiving. This New York-based group is an indie-pop band that crafts bittersweet, piano-laced odes to a lost, abandoned, forgotten love. But not all its songs are melancholy. Nightmare of You straight-up disses jaded indie rockers on "Dear Scene, I Wish I Were Deaf." We think the group's ballsiness comes courtesy of lead singer and guitarist Brandon Reilly, who formed the quartet in late 2003 after his hardcore band the Movielife broke up.
After touring the UK with Fall Out Boy and wrapping up some opening slots with AFI, the band comes to Warehouse Live today to open for MTV2 buzz band Brand New. "There are some people that are just finding out about us," says Reilly. "I feel like we're winning over the fans." Especially the female ones, apparently, which has made life on the road a bit challenging for the handsome -- but romantically involved -- front man. "There's a lot more temptation when you're the leader, because people are generally more drawn to the singer," he says. So how does he hold them off? "I need something bigger than a stick," says the way-modest Reilly. "More like a very large wrench." Ladies, you've been warned. The Colour Revolt opens at 6 p.m.
Sun., July 2, 6 p.m.
