Anne Rice: The Wolf Gift
There’s good news and there’s bad news. The good news is author Anne Rice is in town. The bad news is she won’t be reading or discussing her books, just signing them. Rice redefined vampires forever with her novels chronicling the vampire Lestat’s adventures, and brought the dark magic of New Orleans to life in her acclaimed century-spanning epic about the Mayfair witch family. Today she’ll be signing copies of her latest release, The Wolf Gift, the story of a San Francisco journalist named Reuben Golding who agrees to do a fluff piece on a mysterious mansion. He unexpectedly falls in love with the amazing building and its beautiful owner, an older woman named Marchent Nideck. The magic is shattered, though, when the pair is attacked and Nideck is killed. Golding survives, but not without some injuries — injuries that turn him into a wolf-man. 6 p.m. Murder by the Book, 2342 Bissonnet. For information, call 713-524-8597 or visit www.murderbooks.com.
