Big Bite Nite

Dine with the dinosaurs at the Houston Museum of Natural Science's second annual Big Bite Nite. The first year, the fund-raising event "was a huge success. It sold out," says Latha Thomas, vice president of marketing and communications with the museum. This year the night's theme is spicy. "We did a video series on our Web site that talks about heat and spice and we've had a lot of hits on it, so we hope that sparks some interest," says Thomas. And if the videos don't pack the house, the enormous selection of local fare surely will. The list of more than 40 restaurants serving food at the fund-raiser includes a wide array of palate-pleasing places ranging from Strip House to Frosted Betty Bakeshop to Blue Nile Ethiopian Restaurant. As Thomas says, "It's a chance to sample food from some of Houston's finest restaurants." And you get to see the museum while dining, as tables are scattered throughout the permanent exhibitions. Eat your heart out at Big Bite Nite at 6 p.m. Houston Museum of Natural Science, One Hermann Circle Park Drive. For information, call 713-639-4629 or visit www.hmns.org. $50.
