Domy Books Web site calls Black Christmas, screening today, arguably the best out of the Christmas horror genre. This is actually a rather expansive niche; theres Jack Frost, Snow Beast; Christmas Evil; Silent Night, Bloody Night; and all five installments of Silent Night, Deadly Night. But Black Christmas stands above the rest because of its star-studded cast and crew. Who knew that before they became a Broadway star and Lois Lane, respectively, Andrea Martin and Margot Kidder played sorority girls hounded by a perverted stalker at a holiday-party-turned--bloodbath? Who guessed that, six years after starring in the best Shakespeare adaptation ever (Franco Zeffirellis Romeo and Juliet), Olivia Hussey was answering dirty calls from the killer in this mid-budget Canadian slasher film? And who would have guessed that Bob Clark, who redefined the Christmas movie for an entire generation with 1983s A Christmas Story, had used the season as a backdrop for a plot that can be summed up as hot-chicks-get-killed, just nine years prior? For lovers of A-list celebrities in B-list projects, Black Christmas is the gift that keeps on giving. 8:30 p.m. 1709 West-heimer. For information, call 713-523-3669 or visit www.domystore.com. Free.
