''Blast from the Past: Retro Toys Unwrapped''
The Children's Museum of Houston celebrates playthings of yesteryear in the ''Blast from the Past: Retro Toys Unwrapped'' exhibit. Some 100 toy pedal cars, replicas of actual automobiles produced from 1910 through the 1980s, make up the bulk of the exhibit. Child-powered, the cars were the ultimate in for-kid transportation. The hands-on portion of the exhibit has everything you and your child need to build actual working motors using springs, fans, gears and rubber bands. Kids can also take a look at the science behind classic amusements like lava lamps and silly putty. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays, noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. Through January 9.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Jan. 3. Continues through Jan. 9, 2013
