Cele Keeper: It's Never Too Late to Grow Up
If you're worried that you've long missed your professional heyday, do yourself a favor and stop by today's event at Brazos Bookstore to meet Houstonian Cele Keeper. Now in her eighties, she'll read from her newly published memoir It's Never Too Late to Grow Up, about a life full of late blooming. Keeper, who describes herself as "a Texan by birth and inclination," earned a master's degree in social work at age 51, and then spent the following years setting up a private practice and engaging in group psychotherapy, as well as trying to connect with herself and her own past. It must have worked; her memoir discusses everything from jovial childhood vignettes to heavy reflections. 3 p.m. 2421 Bissonnet. For information, call 713-523-0701 or visit www.brazosbookstore.com. Free.
Sun., Feb. 28, 3 p.m., 2010
