Crimes of the Heart
A lawyer shouldnt fall for his client, especially when that client is guilty of shooting her husband in the belly. But ethics and common sense dont count for much when it comes to the Magrath sisters in the over-the-top comedy Crimes of the Heart. The three women come together to keep vigil over their dying father, with each sister bringing her own set of troubles to the mix. The oldest sister, Lenny, has hit 30 but still hasnt snagged a husband (that might not be a big deal to most women today, but to the Magrath sisters, its a catastrophe). The middle sister, Meg, is licking her wounds after a failed singing career. And the youngest sister, Bebe, is out on bail for shooting her husband
not that her lawyer seems to mind her violent tendencies. The Pulitzer Prize-winning Crimes of the Heart, by Beth Henley, balances comedy, compassion and consternation. Even though the situation is serious, the sisters respond with courage and hope and more than a few jokes. 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. Sundays. Through February 27.
