In addition to its annual showcase of short plays, Museum of Dysfunction, Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company will stage Critter Wisdom, a children’s production featuring a variety of animal protagonists. The 45-minute set will include at least one of the company’s beloved renditions of Aesop’s fables, as well as a new piece entitled The Scarecrow’s Sparrow. Inspired by Oscar Wilde’s classic fairy tale The Happy Prince, this touching and beautiful reimagining celebrates the importance of friendship and the necessity of giving.
This series of short works will feature puppets created by artist Danitra Luers. Each puppet has been hand-crafted using recycled materials. Don’t rush off after the show; there’s a Q&A after the performance. 2 p.m. Saturdays through August 18. Studio 101, Spring Street Studios, 1824 Spring.
Saturdays, 2 p.m. Starts: Aug. 11. Continues through Aug. 18, 2012
