Los Angeles-based artist Jennifer Pastor will be on hand to discuss her latest exhibit, "Dead Landscape," during today's opening reception. Pastor juxtaposes materials from U.S. wars with drawings and photographs of civilian combat such as cage fights and boxing championship matches. "Dead Landscape" grew out of Pastor's research with soldiers from World War II, the Vietnam War, the Korean War and the Iraq conflict. She examined archival on-the-spot drawings and went on to create her own images of modern combat. Previously seen in London, this is the first presentation of the exhibit in this country. Opening reception is 6 p.m. December 11. Regular viewing hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays through Sundays. Through February 14. Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Glassell School of Art, 5101 Montrose. For information, call 713-639-7500 or visit www.mfah.org. Free.
