Between her touring with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson and running her own record label, its a wonder fiddler/singer Elana James has found the time to swing through Houston. Jamess repertoire includes laid-back jazz, including the classic I Got It Bad (And That Aint Good), perfect for a little cheek-to-cheek slow dance. Far from being stuck in a slow tempo, shes apt to light the place up with a quick number like Twenty Four Hours a Day, which has a slightly Gypsy appeal and a faint French accent that will be familiar to Django Reinhardt fans. After revving things up, she can bed them right back down with a sweet bluegrass sound, singing All the World and I, full of plaintive vocals. 9 p.m. Continental Club, 3700 Main. For information, call 713-529-9899 or visit www.continentalclub.com. $11.
