Enso String Quartet

The Enso String Quartet is young enough to be tweaking its name (we’ve gotten press releases for the Ensÿ String Quartet, the Enso Quartet and the Ensÿ Quartet), but old — and talented — enough to have established a standing in classical music circles. The group, which formed at the Yale School of Music in 1999, has both a residency at the Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute and a two-disc set of Ignace Pleyel compositions under its belt. Like any ambitious classical group, the Enso (or Ensÿ) folks are performing more daunting compositions as they build a longer résumé. (The quartet took on Steve Reich’s unorthodox Different Trains earlier this year.) Today at the Menil, the group is tackling Alberto Ginastera’s Argentinean rhythm-filled sound and Maurice Ravel’s ever-subtle and understated harmonies, along with an Ignaz Pleyel favorite. 7:30 p.m. 1515 Sul Ross St. For tickets and information, call 713-524-5050 or visit www.menil.org. $15 to $30.
