In the classical world, musicians make their reputations based on their skills, not their looks. The Eroica Trio has both. They released their debut CD in the late 1990s to praise from eager audiences. As of 2006, the group has featured Erika Nickrenz (piano), Susie Park (violin) and Sara SantAmbrogio (cello). All three players, according to The New York Times, are soloists who have a lot to say, and every note, no matter how light, has some significance. This program, presented by the Houston Friends of Chamber Music, will feature works by Mozart and Brahms and a contemporary piece by Jennifer Higdon. 8 p.m. Rice University, 6100 South Main. For information, call 713-348-5400 or visit www.houstonfriendsofchambermusic.org. $20 to $85.
