Extremely Shorts Film Festival

We can't blame our short attention span entirely on Twitter. It started way before that, as the Aurora Picture Show's Extremely Shorts Film Festival, now in its 16th year, proves. Each film being screened is less than three minutes long, and entries come in from all over the world. ''What you say in a short has the potential to be more powerful than in a longer work because the film is centered on defining just that one idea or story quickly,'' says curator Mary Magsamen. ''It is kind of like giving the elevator pitch — you have to keep it clear and well spoken.''

The lineup includes Josiah Patrow's Look Box, in which an architect takes a vacation inside a box, and Ryan Gillis's Badbloom, about an infestation of mind-controlling fungus.

7 p.m. and 9 p.m.Friday and 7:30 p.m. Saturday. For information, call 713‑868‑2101 or visit aurorapictureshow.org. $10 to $25.
