“Fabergé: From a Snowflake to an Iceberg — The McFerrin Collection.” Some 500 jewel-encrusted treasures include dozens previously owned by Nicholas II and other members of Russia’s royal family, Queen Victoria and other nobles. On display are jewelry, picture frames, cigarette cases and, of course, several of the famous Fabergé Easter eggs (the Imperial Diamond Trellis Egg, the Nobel Ice Egg and the Kelch Egg among them). Intricately crafted, the Fabergé treasures not only tell the story of the House of Fabergé, but illuminate the history of Russia during tumultuous times.
Organized by the Houston Museum of Natural Science in cooperation with the McFerrin Collection, “Fabergé: From a Snowflake to an Iceberg” is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Through December 31, 2015. 5555 Hermann Park Drive. For information, call 713‑639‑4629 or visit hmns.org. $25.
