Food & Film: Laguinats Beer Dinner - Boogie Nights
Paul Thomas Anderson thrust the pornographic film industry into the mainstream with his Academy Award-nominated 1997 film Boogie Nights. Starring Mark Wahlberg as Dirk Diggler, it chronicles the rise and fall of a man in the loose, drug-filled porno industry. You shouldn’t need any more reason to attend a screening than Don Cheadle as a cowboy hi-fi enthusiast and Julianne Moore’s fantastic sex scene on a desk, but in case that’s not enough, the Alamo Drafthouse is presenting a full-on feast to complement the movie. Lagunitas Brewing Company teamed with Alamo’s John Bullington to create a four-course beer feast, including, no joke, pork loin stuffed with Gilroysausage. All blue humor aside, there are few films that can rip off the glamour of the sex trade, while still leaving you hopeful enough to continue to believe in the magic of fame, as well as Boogie Nights. 7 p.m. Alamo Drafthouse Mason Park, 531 South Mason Road.
Wed., July 18, 7 p.m., 2012
