Comedian Gabriel Iglesias likes to explain that there are five levels of fatness, and hes only at number four. Theres big, healthy, husky, fluffy and DAMN! In addition to his weight, which gives him lots of material, the Long Beach native likes to joke about his personal shenanigans. He talks about the time he accused a cop of pulling him over to confiscate his doughnuts (These are mine, ese!), how he felt when his plane got hit by lightning (We dropped 800 feet, and Im not gonna lie I went gay for five seconds ayeeeeeee! I was one brokeback Mexican.) and how to make a racist gift basket for a black friend (You gotta have Kool-Aid).
Picachu, as he calls himself, also has a knack for funny voices and physical comedy. After ten years of working the comedy circuit, including the Latino comedy showcase Que Locos, Iglesias got his big break on Last Comic Standing. He didnt win, but Iglesias forged a good relationship with the network, which led to a recent one-hour special, and he just released a new DVD, Gabriel Iglesias: Hot and Fluffy Live from Bakersfield. Theres also a voice-over career in the works. You go in for a couple hours, say a couple of sentences over and over, and then a week later you get a check, he says.
