George Lopez: I’m Not Going to Lie
Comedian/actor/author George Lopez has made a career out of telling lies. He's exaggerated, embellished and amplified his life experiences as fodder for his stand-up routines and former television series. Now, Lopez, who recently turned 50, says he's determined to face the second half of his life sans falsehoods. And life after 50, according to Lopez’s new book I'm Not Gonna Lie: And Other Lies You Tell When You Turn 50, is an ugly truth. He can't drive his low slung sports car any more; he needs help to get out of it. ''I don't want to have to call security to send over the Jaws of Life to lift me out of my car,'' he writes. He has to schedule sexual encounters, the days of impromptu carnal activities are over. Viagra, he found out the hard way, takes planning.
Lopez signs copies of I'm Not Gonna Lie today at 7 p.m. Brazos Bookstore, 2421 Bissonnet. For information, call 713-523-0701 or visit brazosbookstore.com. Free.
