Saying that mystery heroine Joanna Brady is kind of a badass is like saying Jessica Simpson is mildly irritating. The recently re-elected sheriff in best-selling author J.A. Jance's latest thriller, Dead Wrong, is eight months pregnant when the maimed body of a convicted killer surfaces in her town. No sooner does Joanna learn that this case trails back 20 years to a cold case of her father's than a fellow officer is beaten to death. While all local resources are funneled to the new murder, Brady straps a bullet-proof vest over her engorged belly to make sure justice is served. Damn. No wonder she was re-elected. Jance reads from Dead Wrong, the 12th installment in the Joanna Brady series, today at 5 p.m.
Sat., Aug. 12, 5 p.m.
