Everything's coming up roses at the Island ETC theater company. The group's production of the Broadway musical Gypsy launches its new season and features some of the most famous songs ever performed on the Great White Way. There's "Let Me Entertain You," "Together Wherever We Go" and, of course, "Everything's Coming Up Roses." The show is based on the lives of burlesque queen Gypsy Rose Lee and her overbearing mother (who never met a personal boundary she didn't immediately smash). It touches on ambition, rivalry, love, success and, ultimately, self-determination for both women. 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. Sundays. Through August 7. The Strand Theatre, 2317 Mechanic, Galveston. For information, call 888-762-3556 or visit $20 to $25.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: July 15. Continues through Aug. 7, 2010
