Henry Rollins: Recountdown Tour
Henry Rollins is starting to sound a lot like a preacher...in a good way. Of course, we're not talking about the former punk rock icon's sentiments; it's more his style of delivery. On his latest spoken-word album, Provoked, the former Black Flag front man turned author/actor/activist/spoken-word artist/television show host (The Henry Rollins Show) unleashes his thoughts on gay rights, animal rights, politics, relationships and more in a calmer, more listener-friendly format. Imagine tuning in to one of those churchy channels and seeing a muscular, tattooed fortysomething talking about how happy he was to hear animals are still attacking humans in the United States, how a man and a man marrying each other would never lead to a man marrying a horse, and how if you ever write a letter to him and receive the reply "Duly noted," he's not trying to be polite. "It means I'm blowing you off," Rollins says. In other words, if you're unhappy with today's spoken-word performance that's part of his Recountdown Tour - and it's doubtful you will be - you know where you can put your response. 7:30 p.m. Stafford Centre, 10505 Cash Road. For tickets and information, call 281-208-6900 or visit www.staffordcentre.com. $18.50.
