Holy Dirt, the one-man show starring Martin Martinez, follows the antics of a Latino actor living in a small town. Hes loosely based on me, Martinez says. Hes doing some community-based [theater], and hes also very politically minded. But every time he goes out, he gets caught up in this commercial machine. He thinks hes doing an audition for Luis Valdez, but it turns out hes performing for a tired, hack Hollywood director whos going to be doing the Hispanic version of Its a Wonderful Life. Ive done the show a lot in the Southwest, but also in Holland, Germany and Denmark. It plays on some Latino cultural markers, yes, but its really about American culture. 8 p.m. today and tomorrow. Talento Bilingüe de Houston, 333 South Jensen Drive. For tickets and information, call 713-222-1213 or visit www.tbhcenter.org. $7 to $12.
Fri., May 16, 8 p.m.; Sat., May 17, 8 p.m., 2008
