Houston Brazilian Festival: Discover Brazil

Let loose at the exotic and colorful 2011 Houston Brazilian Festival: Discover Brazil. Brazil has an impressive array of music, dance and cultural traditions, many of which will be showcased during the festival. The Brazilian Nuts Band will perform samba-based tunes, as well as Frevo, Maracatu, Xote and Baiao music. Dance duo Renato Lage and Mariana Leme will bring a bit of old-school Rio alive when they present Samba de Gafieira, a sort of ballroom version of samba but with elements of street dancing. There’s lots more entertainment on the schedule, and food from Pradaria Steaks & Churrascaria and Cater Brazil. 4 to 10 p.m. Jones Plaza, 610 Louisiana.
