Houston Childrens Festival
Most elementary school-age kids arent quite ready for the sights, sounds and smells of the Westheimer Block Party (Mommy, why is that man wearing a bra?). But there are no such worries at the always-popular Houston Childrens Festival. A total of six separate areas including the somewhat incongruously named McDonalds Family Fitness Zone will host a slew of entertainment shows. Special guests this year include Keke Palmer, star of Nickelodeons hit show True Jackson, VP, and WWE wrestling stars Matt Hardy and Layla (who will hopefully wear one of her sexy outfits for the dads). Preteen heartthrob Diego and his cousin Dora the Explorer will also be on hand, along with Clive Berkman, The Chef Dude, and Sid the Science Kid. 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Sam Houston Park, 1100 Bagby. For information, e-mail Lalexander@spectrumfcs.com or visit www.houstonchildrensfestival.com. $8.
Sat., April 4, 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.; Sun., April 5, 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m., 2009
