Houston Japan Festival 2011
Organizers of this years Houston Japan Festival 2011 want to send more than just well-wishes to their countrymen, thousands of whom are injured or homeless because of the recent earthquake and tsunami. They want to send funds and donations to help during the crisis. So, along with lots of entertainment, live music, wonderful Japanese food and crafts, the festival will feature a large tent where four of Houstons Japanese civic organiza-tions will be collecting money. In between watching martial arts demonstrations, tasting sake and listening to performances by Taiko drum groups, stop by the tent to ask how you can help. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Japanese Garden, Hermann Park, 6001 Fannin. For information, visit www.japan-fest.org. Free.
Sat., April 9; Sun., April 10, 2011
