Have a great meal and do a good deed all at the same time during Houston Restaurant Weeks 2012. Here’s the deal: You select from a fixed-price menu at one of dozens of participating restaurants, and a portion of your bill is donated to the Houston Food Bank. Lunch is two or three courses for $20; dinner is three or four courses for $35. At Américas River Oaks, for example, you have your choice of calamari, shrimp bisque, ceviche or paella for starters. Select beef tenderloin, grilled swordfish, carnitas or a sampler plate as a dinner entrée (add an extra side or a glass of wine for an additional charge). Dessert offerings include tres leches, tequila bread pudding and a cocoa tart. Like many of the other participating restaurants, Américas River Oaks serves up award-winning food (their beef tenderloin was voted one of Esquire magazine’s top 20 steaks in America). Various times and locations. Daily. Through August 31. For information, visit www.houstonrestaurantweeks.com. $20 to $35.
Mondays-Sundays. Starts: Aug. 1. Continues through Aug. 31, 2012
