"Introductions"

Linda Darke, owner of Darke Gallery, was being literal when she named her current group exhibition "Introductions." The show presents seven emerging Texas artists, including a few that have been mostly unseen in Houston despite their success in other cities. "Chad Erpelding, for example, is having shows in Korea and Mexico later this season," says Darke. "He's got all sorts of great things lined up, but unless I ask him to come here, no one in Houston will get to see his stuff. The same thing with Richard Martinez." There are seven participating artists: Erpelding, Martinez, Marcelyn McNeil, Melanie Schlossberg, Michelle O'Michael, David A. Brown and Deborah Kirkpatrick. If you like what you see and want to see more, you're in luck. Each "Introductions" artist will have a solo exhibit at the gallery later this season. Noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. Through July 25. 5321 Feagan. For information, call 713-542-3802 or visit www.darkegallery.com. Free.
Wednesdays-Saturdays. Starts: July 16. Continues through July 25, 2009
