"Isa Leshko: Thrills & Chills"
Photographer Isa Leshko is afraid of amusement park rides. So, of course, she created a series of soft-focus black-and-white images of rides and, perhaps more important, riders. "Isa Leshko: Thrills & Chills," which happens to be her first solo show in Houston, shows people on roller coasters and aerial swings, tearing through the sky. There's also a girl on a Coney Island Tilt-a-Whirl, flattened against her seat by the centrifugal force. There are Ferris wheels with empty octagon-shaped carts and zipper rides. Oddly enough, it's the photos that don't have any people in them that are the most eerie. Leshko says she finds amusement parks to be "fantastic and sinister." In "Thrill & Chills," we see what she means. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Through December 31. space125gallery, 3201 Allen Parkway.
