J. Antonio Farfan, A Solo Exhibit: On the Nature of Time
In 2002, the artist J. Antonio Farfan, who had spent much of his young life in our fair city (he was educated at the University of Houston), decamped for New York. Fortunately for us, he decided to return in 2004, and his work has since appeared at multiple galleries and public exhibitions. J. Antonio Farfan, A Solo Exhibit: On the Nature of Time, on display at Bering & James, includes a number of his inviting, vivid acrylic-and-pastel works, which are soft yet vibrant, and satisfying.
The Mexican-born artists work explores what he calls the multiple dimensions of a rapidly changing, globalizing world, and while his pieces are certainly complex, theyre also easy to appreciate, thanks to Farfans skillful use of bright color. Meet the artist at an opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 3. Regular viewing hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Through May 27. 805 Rhode Place, #500.
