James Rollins: The Eye of God
Author James Rollins has a new book out — uh-oh, must be time to save the world. With each of his books, Rollins thrills readers with a new menace that may end humanity. So far he's crafted stories that feature threats from genetically modified food and super volcanoes. For his latest release, The Eye of God, Rollins goes from the far past and the time of Genghis Khan to the near future and the obliteration of the Untied States. A military satellite crashes into rural China. The last image it sent before it hit the ground was a blurry view of the United States' eastern seaboard in ruins. But that hasn't happened. At least not yet. Could the image be a glimpse into the future? Toss in Genghis Khan's skull and a book covered in human skin (DNA proves it also came from Genghis), and Sigma Force Commander Gray Pierce has his hands full.
Part of Rollins's appeal is his ability to mix facts and history with his vivid fiction. It's not so much science fiction as it’s science-that-just-hasn't-happened-yet. Rollins, a strong supporter of military families, was part of Operation Thriller, a recent USO effort to bring books and authors to servicemen and women in the field.
