Japan at Houston center for Photography
The contrast of Japans beauty and its rigidity has captivated visitors for ages, and Japan at the Houston Center for Photography is no exception. On a 2006 trip to Japan, photographer Amelia DEntrone sought to capture moments that revealed lonely souls trying to connect with a land that is at once ravishing and rigid. The resulting photographs are somber but striking. DEntrones series juxtaposes anonymous individuals with Japans rich natural beauty, using pools of light and swells of darkness.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: July 20. Continues through Aug. 19
