“Joan Son: Time Travelers”
Nationally recognized origami artist Joan Son takes her art back to the beginning (in a way) with her “Joan Son: Time Travelers” exhibit currently at the Jung Center of Houston. As a young girl, Son designed dresses for her paper dolls. Her mother saved those early works of art and now Son, who has exhibited her constructions at Tiffany & Co. and the Smithsonian, is using them as a jumping off point for a series of lifesize paper dresses. These creations, including glamorous evening gowns, are displayed on 6-foot-tall plexiglass cylinders.
