Chelsea Handler's E! chat show
Chelsea Lately boasts a motley supporting cast of players, comics and foils. Prime among them is grumpy comedian
John Caparulo, in town for a weekend stint of standup at the Improv Comedy Showcase. Caparulo has a particular beef with customer-service reps. ''My cable went out, and the company doesn't care. They said, 'Well, we can't come out tonight. We can come out between Monday at 10 a.m. and…Thursday,'' he says in one routine. ''Then they ask me dumb questions like 'Is your TV plugged in?' Whoever unplugs your TV? You plug it in once and it stays that way until you move!''
Likewise, he’s not a fan of the literati. ''I'm sick of people who read. I'm like, 'Shut up; we've invented better stuff.' When I can see the movie, why would I want to get a book and read under a tree and … turn gay?''
Caparulo recently got married. The comedian shared his wedding vows with fans on his Web site. ''Jamie Marie, from this day forward I promise to be worth it. Worth the time, worth the embarrassment. You will always come first, and, of course, if you don't for whatever reason, I will buy you some shoes.''
