Leslie Jordan: Show Pony
Give yourself permission to giggle, guffaw and even do a few nose snorts at the Leslie Jordan: Show Pony show. A comedian, actor, writer and LGBT icon, Jordan is set to perform , a collection of no-holdsbarred behind-the-scenes stories of his work on , and . If we’re lucky, we might get a few tales about the time Jordan spent on the Emmy Award-winning Will & Grace. (Jordan was Karen Walker’s archenemy, the snooty, acid-tongued and überrich Beverley Leslie.) The show takes its name from Jordan’s demanding performance schedule: “They just trot me out like an aging show pony, and I have a ball!” he tells us.
Jordan, who travels around the world with his shows, says he has a special place in his heart for Texas: “[That] place gets my vote for the best place on earth. All those straight cowboys…wear the tightest Wrangler jeans I’ve ever seen with belt buckles you could serve a turkey on! And there I sit ready for the show! Bring on the cowboys! Yeah, Texas!” Of course, not all the sights in Texas are as appealing. “I was flying home from Dallas last week, and I saw this woman who had to be in her late seventies with sweat pants that had “JUICY” written across her ass. I wanted to tap her on the shoulder and say, “Honey, there is nothing juicy about your behind. That ship has sailed!”
