Loves of a Blonde

Czech cinema came into its own, winning international acclaim, in the early '60s when the New Wave splashed all over everything. Loves of a Blonde is a 1965 film from Milos Forman (pre-One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Amadeus) about an impressionistic village girl who follows her one-night stand back to the big city of Prague, where she finds out that he lives with his grumpy parents, who in no way want him married. Unassuming and low-key, the film is a delightful look at love and that inevitable gulf between parents and their adult children. 8:30 p.m. Domy Books, 1709 Westheimer.
