"Mary McCleary: A Survey 1996-2011"
The Art League Houston turns over both of its gallery spaces to the exhibit "Mary McCleary: A Survey 1996-2011." Twenty-six collages created over the last 15 years and seen together for the first time make up the exhibit. One of the most striking works is Swimming in my tiny, tiny myness, a swirl of blues and greens surrounding a small figure in a red swim cap and goggles.
Born in Houston but now based in Nacogdoches, McCleary is the 2011 Texas Artist of the Year, an honor previously bestowed on Bert L. Long, Dr. John Biggers and Dixie Friend Gay. There's an opening reception with the artist 6 to 8 p.m. September 9. Regular viewing hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Through November 12. 1953 Montrose. For information, call 713-523-9530 or visit www.artleaguehouston.org. Free.
