Mercury Baroque: Classical in the Raw
Mercury Baroque closes out the season with Classical in the Raw. In press materials, Mercury Baroque Artistic Director Antoine Plante says the orchestra has a different approach to the musical program than most other contemporary orchestras. "We are performing these pieces with the perspective of looking forward from the Baroque to the Classical era rather than looking back at them from a modern musician's point of view." Today's concert includes Mozart's 40th Symphony in G Minor and Beethoven's 1st Symphony, both of which are being performed on period instruments for the first time ever in Texas. 8 p.m. Wortham Theater Center, 500 Texas. For information, call 832-251-0706 or visit www.mercurybaroque.org. $20 to $47.
