Met Opera Live in HD: Armida
Renée Fleming sings the title role in The Met: Live in HD: Armida opposite six tenors. Written by Rossini, Armida is the musical tale of a sorceress who enchants men she keeps in an island prison. This new production is directed by Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman. Via press materials, Zimmerman calls Armida "a buried treasure, a box of jewels" and says it "has an epic, enchanted quality." Today's screening is an encore, so the Live in HD tag is only half-true, but it's still a wonderful performance by one of opera's greats. The screening also includes behind-the-scenes features and backstage interviews with the performance principals. 6:30 p.m. Various theaters, including Houston Marq*E Stadium 22 plus IMAX, 7620 Katy Freeway.
