Miracle on 34th Street
Texas Repertory Theatre confirms that today's performance will proceed as scheduled.
Valentine Davies's Christmas favorite Miracle on 34th Street gets a remake by the Texas Repertory Theatre Company. The play, a crisp mix of comedy and cynicism, hope and magic, starts when a Macy's Santa, coincidently named Kris Kringle, says he's actually the real Santa. Kringle gets thrown in the nuthouse and has to go to court to prove his identity. There's much more at stake than just Kringle's freedom the case makes front-page news and has kids everywhere asking, "Is there really a Santa Claus?" Among them is Susan, adorable daughter of Kringle's rigid, uptight boss. 8 p.m. today. Through December 23. Texas Repertory Theatre, 14243 Stuebner Airline Road. For a full schedule, call 281-583-7573 or visit www.texreptheatre.org. $17.50 to $35.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Nov. 19. Continues through Dec. 23, 2009
