“Monster Show 2: Another Compendium of Awesome Monster Drawings”

Just in time for Halloween, “Monster Show 2: Another Compendium of Awesome Monster Drawings” is serving up plenty of heebie-jeebies. The show features local and national artists and their take on what lurks beneath the bed or at the end of the dark alley. Of course, not all of them look like something to fear. YAR!’s watercolor depicts a pouty-faced, raisin-headed creature in a red shirt emblazoned with a kid in a Batman mask. On the other hand, Skinner’s drawing is an extreme close-up view of a blue, voodoo skull-face fiend with glowing, yellow eyes staring viewers down. YAR!’s monster looks like it gets beaten up by Skinner’s.

Try not to get too scared (or too sympathetic) in the presence of these and other creepy creations from more than 30 artists, including ACK, Seth Alverson, The Dead Head, Lisa Marie Godfrey, Shane Hillman and Meg Hunt. The show opens today at 7 p.m. Regular viewing hours start at noon daily. Domy Books, 1709 Westheimer. Through November 30. For information, call 713-523-3669 or visit www.domystore.com. Free.
