Candice Goodwin, Crystal Owens, Tahamia Spain and Salli Babbitt are among the artists participating in Mind Puddless November Group Show. The four artists met through their work with the Art League Houston, becoming friends and co-conspirators. Throughout the last five years, the group has been exhibiting together in various combinations. Joining them here is a new artist, N. Blanca, who is exhibiting for the first time, along with Rosa Silbert, Tyson Schroder and J. Antonio Farfan.
The group says this exhibit contains more figurative work than has been typical in the past. Goodwins works are iridescent, 3-D wall sculptures made of aluminum screens painted with many, many layers of acrylic paint. Spain contributes whimsical images of women made of washi paper and acrylic paint. Babbitts pieces include boxes painted with tinted hot wax. Owenss work is also in wax and created using statuary found in Glenwood Cemetery. Blancas contributions are assemblage/paintings done in the retablo style. Regular viewing hours are 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesdays to Thursdays, 1 p.m. to midnight Fridays, and noon to midnight Saturdays. 2305 Dunlavy Street. Through November 30.
