Outsider Comedy features people who fit two types of characters: aspiring comedians and dorks. (Yes, they can be mutually exclusive.) The event was founded by local comic Eric Dieckman, who was inspired by Comedians of Comedy, the tour-turned-Comedy-Central series that featured notable funnymen Brian Posehn, Patton Oswalt and Zach Galifianakis. For his own incarnation, Dieckman called upon socially awkward Houstonians known for their obsessions with dirty humor, movies and sci-fi TV shows. The debut lineup includes Dieckman, Chase Durousseau, Danny Rios, Russell Simiek, John Gard and Theodore M.E. Taylor, and we wont be surprised if some combination of these guys hits the road in the near future. Our favorite from the pack is Durousseau, who won this years Houston Funniest competition at the Laff Stop. 9 p.m. The Mink/Backroom, 3718 Main.
