Palestine Film Festival

This year's Houston Palestinian Film Festival's screening schedule is filled with outstanding offerings. There's Annemarie Jacir's When I Saw You, a fictional account of a young boy taken in by young freedom fighters determined to liberate Palestine. ''As the film highlights the conditions of Palestinian refugees in Jordan in 1967, the audience is introduced to an engaging cast of talented actors who take us on a journey of emotional peaks and valleys we all can understand, appreciate, or at the very least ponder,'' says Sary Joudah of the HPFF. It's a rare and romantic look at an important part in Palestinian history that few filmmakers have yet had the courage to attempt.

Also on the bill is Sameh Zoabi's comedy Man Without a Cell Phone, which follows a twenty-something slacker trying to navigate love and college as his father organizes the community against an Israeli cell phone tower he believes will kill them all with radiation.

Screening times and locations vary. Through May 19, MFAH, 1001 Bissonnet. For a full schedule, call 713-639-7300 or visit $10.
