Kids with cancer isnt synonymous with happiness and joy. But it always seems that even gravely ill kids manage to be surprising wellsprings of hope; while their bodies may be vulnerable, their innocence seems to be immune. This is shown to be entirely true at the Houston Center for Photographys annual PictureThis! exhibition, which collects the photography-based work of children getting treatment at the Childrens Cancer Hospital at M.D. Anderson. Throughout the eight-week educational program, the patients used an assortment of photographic methods and tools; this years finished projects include photo collages, flip books, and work with camera obscura and cyanotype techniques. The results are highly personalized, playful and full of life proving that cancers no match for the potency of an imaginative mind. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays, noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
