Of the two films that made up 2007's Grindhouse, Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof is the true gem. That said, Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror is still an incredible ride of an action film that everyone should see. The movie stars Rose McGowan and Freddy Rodriguez as a couple on the rocks who suddenly get involved in a global outbreak of zombie bio-weapons and a military determined to retrieve a cure for the airborne disease. McGowan as Cherry Darling is one of the great unsung heroes of the past decade as she saunters through danger with a machine gun strapped to the stump that used to be her right leg. Even more unbelievable is the diminutive Rodriguez, who turns out to be unstoppable with a knife and a gun, in a role that should have made him an action leading man. Throw in the impossibly hot Marley Shelton delivering the sexiest line in all of film history, Bruce Willis as a desperate lieutenant trying to stave off the infection and Fergie, of all people, and the end result is a bloody action spectacle for the filmgoer with a little backbone.
