The island of Ibiza, off the coast of Spain, is a party/dance mecca where the world's top DJs spin their hearts out for hundreds of thousands of exotic, erotic and, uh, rich fans. At this weekend's Paraiso Ibiza event, DJ Mike C, DJ Nando Sanchez and Fadi Saliba are bringing Ibiza to downtown Houston -- saving us the flight time, the layovers and about $5,990. And their music should help a few lucky and sweaty dancers shed a few thousand calories. "I'm doing this to bring a flavor back in Houston," says DJ Mike C. His recipe includes house, Latin house, techno and the kind of tribal dance music that has become insanely popular all over the globe. In keeping with the world vibe, the DJs also come from spots like Mexico, Russia and even Lebanon.

"We dress up the place," says Mike C, talking about both the decorations and the people. Expect to see the colors of the Spanish flag -- red and gold. And no doubt, you can expect some scandalously hot summer looks from the ladies at this event. But what should a guy wear to this kind of beach party? "Puma shoes, jeans and a comfortable shirt," says Mike C.

Whew -- we were worried he was gonna say a swimsuit. 9 p.m. Friday, April 22. Club Ice, 711 Main (inside Mantra). For information, call 713-927-8895. $10. -- Travis Ritter

Hello, Nasty

SAT 4/23

Very, very few acts can inspire the "ummm, okay..." response that Filthy McNasty and the Rhinestone Life can elicit. Specifically, it's McNasty, also known as Brian McManus, a Press writer, whose stage presence can be, in a word, unforgettable. At a recent show, he took the stage wearing nothing but tights, a parka and a manic grin. Initially, you'll meet his shrieks, self-groping and James Brown-inspired gyrations with confusion and disbelief, but ultimately he'll stir in you a bizarre infatuation. Meanwhile, the Rhinestone Life, clad in all black, churns out grinding rock-funk that appropriately, um, supports their pelvis-thrusting front man. Three beers in, you'll be a fan for life. Medevac opens at 10 p.m. Saturday, April 23. The Proletariat, 903 Richmond. For information, call 713-523-1199 or visit $5. -- Steven Devadanam

I Want My ATB

FRI 4/22

"One day without music would be dangerous for me," Andre Tanneberger once said. The German DJ-producer, better known to his fans as ATB, doesn't have to worry, it seems: He's a global trance superstar of an echelon only slightly sub-Oakenfold. His music is emotionally charged and even melancholy at times, but always very danceable, thanks especially to his use of some of the world's best-known female dance vocalists. His major hits include "9 p.m. (Til I Come)" and "Don't Stop," and he's remixed everyone from Paul Van Dyk to Bob Marley. Join him for Ritual Spring Session 2005 at 10 p.m. Friday, April 22. M Bar, 402 Main. For information, call 713-222-1022 or visit $25. -- Julia Ramey

Swim with a Shark

FRI 4/22

If you've been yearning for a return of those hot, drug-filled warehouse parties of the '90s, Dallas-cum-San Francisco DJ Lance DeSardi -- a.k.a. Land Shark -- will be dropping by the Warehouse District as part of the Spring Into Seasons Vol. 1 party. DeSardi recently released San Francisco Sessions with JT Donaldson on the influential dance label Om. The Shark's show will give listeners plenty of pulse-racing, teeth-grinding beats that may bring back memories of the time you first saw Jaws. At last, rave fans, it's finally okay to get back in the water. Doors open at 10 p.m. Friday, April 22, at a warehouse located at 2905 Rusk. For information, visit $8 to $10. -- Travis Ritter
